Days 2 & 3 in Singapore: Inspiration, Tea and a New Home
The last couple of days have been a whirlwind of inspiration, connection and abundance. From diving into my studies to securing a home that ticks every box on my manifestation list, this journey has been filled with signs that following your heart and letting go of limiting beliefs truly opens doors you never imagined.
Day 2 – Finding My Feet
Friday started with another visit to NAFA. I explored their semester exhibition and got a deeper understanding of my coursework and assessments. One of the highlights was meeting the Deputy Associate Dean of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Biophilic Design course. Her passion for wellness-driven, nature-based design was truly inspiring. Hearing her speak about the importance of creating spaces that connect people to nature reminded me why I’ve chosen this path and how aligned I feel with this journey.
I also met my classmates and my group for an upcoming assignment. The mix of ideas and creativity in the room was exciting and I can’t wait to see what we’ll create together.
After NAFA, the afternoon was spent house hunting. Shared accommodation seemed convenient since it included all the basics, but honestly, it was way too expensive for what you actually get. Condominiums, or apartments as we’d call them in Australia, are much better value. They’ve got everything—modern spaces, lap pools, gyms, and even saunas. The hunt wasn’t over, but I felt like I was getting closer to finding the right place.
That evening I explored the local markets, picking up some Oolong tea, pistachios and a big bowl of steaming hot, fish noodle soup for dinner. It was a simple yet nourishing way to wrap up a busy day.
Day 3 – Tea, Luck and a Lease
Saturday began with a special visit to Tea Sense Culture on the Northside of the city. I experienced an incredible three-hour personal tea session. During our time together sharing about tea, culture and Singapore, my throat seemed to be quite dry and scratchy (probably a combination of travelling, loads of stress with my partners surgery and packing to leave, as well as spending way too much time in and out of air conditioning), so the tea lady brewed me a special concoction of black dates, apple and lemon boiled together. It was exactly what I needed and worked wonders almost immediately.
Lunch that day was chicken curry with vegetables and rice porridge. The curry was room temperature, which made me a little hesitant, but all turned out fine in the end.
Later in the evening, at exactly 18:00 hours, on the 18th floor of my hotel, on the 18th of January, I signed the lease for my new “condo”. The timing felt quite auspicious, being right before Chinese New Year.
Not only that, my new home just happened to have everything I had written on my manifestation list and more—north-facing with 3m-high floor-to-ceiling windows, a lap pool, gym, sauna, steam room, timber floors and more. It’s a space that perfectly reflects the natural flow of abundance and support I’ve felt on this journey so far. I couldn’t help but marvel at how aligned everything is when you let go of doubts and trust in the process.
I gifted my real estate agent Adeline a sweet little bonsai tree with a red Chinese lucky knot (中国结), a beautiful symbol of good fortune and harmony. It was my way of honouring the abundance that has come my way and sharing a piece of it with someone who helped me find my new home. With Chinese New Year looming the streets and shops are filled with more RED than you could ever imagine!
Kindness and Connection
That evening Joanna, my new friend, surprised me with some thoughtful housewarming gifts—a beautiful tea set, some loose-leaf green tea, fresh fruit and a special Chinese New Year mandarin orange. I couldn’t believe her generosity. It was such a lovely way to celebrate finding my new home and settling into this next chapter.
I ended the day with a bowl of pork dumpling soup and another brew recommended by Joanna - ginseng root and black dates boiled together into a dark, earthy blend. I can feel it taking effect already - ahhh the beauty of natural medicine. In bed that evening I reflecting on how much has already unfolded in these first few days. This journey has been about so much more than study or moving to a new place—it’s been an incredible reminder of how life can truly surprise you, flowing naturally where you’re meant to be, knowing that when you follow your heart and trust in the support of nature’s intelligence, anything is possible. I can’t wait to see what’s next.
In the meantime, may your days be filled with presence, nature and love.
再见 (zài jiàn) - “see you again“.
